Henry's Children

Henry Mahorney and Catherine had eight children of which I have record. The next few posting will give the scant information I have regarding them.

The first two children were Alcinda and John Thomas, twins, born 9 May 1825 (undocumented.)

Alcinda married John Henry Wheeler 14 May 1846. The wedding was performed by James C. Crow, well-known minister in Oddville. John was a successful tobacco farmer and tobacco salesman. I have record of seven children born to this couple: Sarah A., Nancy Catherine, John William, Margaret E., Thomas S., Louisa and Mary J. All of these were born in Harrison County.

John Thomas Mahorney married Ken Happy Clough (pronounced Cluff in Harrison County) 3 March 1850 in Harrison County. The 1850 census shows John and Happy living with her parents. Later, the couple moved to Missouri where in the early 60s, John, it has been told, was killed in a fight. Their children were Matthew Walker, Maranda Jackson, Henry Clay, John H., Ella and Laura Ann. It seems that at least the first four children were born in Harrison County. The other two in Missouri.

I would welcome any corrections or additions to this data.
